National Call-In Days: June 14, 15, 16!
SAVING MEDICAID FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITES!
NO CUTS!
Call 1-866-922-4970 to reach the U.S. Senate and then ask for your Senator.
With both the House and Senate in session THIS WEEK, we expect the debate about how to reduce the deficit to be front and center. Only with you and others calling in to your U.S. Senators and your House Representative can we hope to stop the cuts.
Here is your simple 1-2-3 message:
1. DON'T CUT MEDICAID. "Cuts to this vital program will only shift costs to states and transfer the burden onto people with disabilities, children and their families.”
2. Remind Members of Congress of any of the following points:
- Medicaid is critical for the health care of 8 million people with disabilities.
- Medicaid pays for wheelchairs and prosthetic devices for people with disabilities such as spinal chord injury, cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
- Medicaid pays for prescription drugs for persons with mental illnesses and epilepsy and other medical conditions.
- Medicaid pays for programs to enable people with intellectual disabilities to live and work in the community.
- Medicaid’s Early and Periodic Screening Diagnosis & Treatment program helps identify children’s disabilities early and gets them the care they need.
3. If you or someone you know with a disability benefits from Medicaid directly, be sure to mention that in your phone call. Tell them “I am a registered voter.”
If they don’t hear from you – and hundreds of others -- next week, how will they know what we all think?
