From the International Coalition for Autism and All Abilities (ICAA) (12.27.10):
ICAA in Mother Jones
by Emily Malabey
Part of advocacy is sometimes taking a stand on an issue whether it is comfortable, popular, or not. In 2010, the ICAA issued a public statement about the Judge Rotenberg Center. When something is being done to a group of people based on their differences in ability, such as what is reportedly happening at the Judge Rotenberg Center, many of us feel called to take a stand. The United Nations has called on the Obama Administration and others to look into what has been called “torture” occurring at the Judge Rotenberg Center in Canton, Massachusetts...
From Mother Jones (7.27.10):
Autism Activists on the Judge Rotenberg Center
By Jen Phillips
Autism advocates are following up on a DOJ investigation of the Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC), a private Massachusetts school that punishes some autistic, ..., and emotionally troubled students with electric shocks. The Judge Rotenberg Center, whose practices were recently condemned by the UN as "torture," will be the subject of a radio interview between the International Coalition for Autism and all Abilities (ICAA) and Massachusetts state senator Brian Joyce...

The teachers who shock these students should be jailed for many years. They are committing a crime against humanity.

I own not one but two 3 million volt stun guns. I would be more than delighted to donate my time to administer "skin shocks" to every staff member who has ever pushed those buttons and every staff member who considers doing so. As for the "school" administrators...I'll be more than happy to pop them twice for every button that is pushed.
Do you think that this might go farther than any reasoned rhetoric regarding why they should not be doing this to any living thing?

Our US Justice department , HHS , and everyone of us who is disabled need be outraged over such inhumane treatment of a US citizen , disabled or otherwise. How dare these "caregivers" use "torture tatics" to "try & help " an autistic human being!!!! These persons should be replaced , and stripped of any credential's -license for ever again working with these very fragile persons.

Despite all the bills passed in Congress protecting disable persons and handicapped, in reality there is still existing incident of discrimination. Or even worse, torture. What happened in Judge Rotenberg Center brought fear to a lot of special children in the world. It’s very provoking! I don’t think I could stand the situation, if that still happens up until now.
