Order Your Free Posters and PSA Discussion Guides Today
AAPD is a proud member of the Campaign for Disability Employment (CDE), a collaborative of leading disability and business organizations. We’re pleased to announce that the CDE has a series of new products designed to promote the hiring, retention and advancement of people with disabilities and dispel negative stereotypes about disability and employment. These products – which can be ordered free of charge through the CDE’s new online Outreach Toolkit – include posters and discussion guides to accompany the “I Can” public service announcement.
What Can YOU Do? Posters
Designed to illustrate the campaign’s theme, the CDE’s “What can YOU do?” Poster Series features seven posters that individuals and organizations can either download or order by mail. Each poster targets a different audience and features a compelling image and message about disability and employment. Organizations can use the posters to freshen-up workplace bulletin boards, schools, training centers, places of worship and more.
“I Can” PSA Discussion Guides: Fostering CAN-Do Attitudes
Millions of people across the country have experienced “I Can,” a powerful public service announcement (PSA) that has aired in more than 370 television and radio markets nationwide. As companion pieces to this powerful video, the CDE developed two booklets designed to guide discussions about disability employment attitudes. The Youth Discussion Guide helps users start a conversation among youth, with and without disabilities, about the importance of focusing on ability and talent; not making assumptions about what people can and can’t do; and setting goals for employment. The Workplace Discussion Guide helps employers and HR professionals facilitate productive staff talks on flexible and inclusive workplaces. Each discussion guide order includes a “What can YOU do?” poster and a DVD of the “I Can” PSA – a perfect package for starting insightful group conversations.
The CDE’s online Outreach Toolkit is a central resource for accessing these and other educational materials related to the “What can YOU do?” effort. In addition to fulfilling poster and PSA discussion guide orders, it allows users to:
- Download and Share the “I Can” Public Service Announcement (PSA)
- Link to the Campaign for Disability Employment's Website
- Publish Campaign for Disability Employment “Drop-in ” Articles, Web and Print Ads
- Issue a Campaign for Disability Employment Press Release
- Host a "What can YOU do?" Celebration
- Connect with the Campaign for Disability Employment on Facebook and LinkedIn
- Access Spanish-Language Website and Resources
By leveraging these tools and resources, individuals can further the important message that at work, it’s what people CAN do that matters.
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN FOR DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT:
The Campaign for Disability Employment is a collaborative effort among several disability and business organizations that seek to promote positive employment outcomes for people with disabilities by encouraging employers and others to recognize the value and talent they bring to the workplace, as well as the dividend to be realized by fully including people with disabilities at work. These partners include:
American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD);
National Business and Disability Council (NBDC);
National Council of La Raza (NCLR);
National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC);
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM);

The CDE is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP); receives technical assistance from the Job Accommodation Network (JAN); and is supported by the Disability Policy Research Center at West Virginia University.
RHA Howell Inc and SENET (Secured Employment Network), have announced their support for the Campaign for Disability Employment, a new collaborative effort to promote positive employment outcomes for people with disabilities.
RHA Howell, a statewide organization that has been serving people with disabilities in North Carolina for nearly 40 years, launched SENET a year ago to provide vocational support for people with disabilities and support for area businesses seeking qualified, reliable employees from entry-level to professional.
By joining the Campaign for Disability Employment, RHA Howell and SENET will actively work to draw public attention to the website, www.whatcanyoudocampaign.org, which offers users the chance to learn, express their commitment to disability employment efforts, and share what they “can do.” The website also features grassroots tools and tangible ideas for supporting the Campaign’s goals, as well as video, radio and print public service announcements (PSAs) that challenge assumptions about people with disabilities and employment.
Specifically, RHA Howell and SENET will feature the Campaign for Disability Employment in their newsletters; create links to the campaign and PSAs on their websites; work with area TV, radio and print media to feature the PSAs and support the Campaign; and distribute educational materials, including the Campaign’s “What can YOU do?” posters.
“We are thrilled to take part in this groundbreaking national campaign to advance America’s promise of opportunity for all,” said Sam Hedrick, president of RHA Howell, Inc.
“Through SENET, we have been opening doors to careers for people with disabilities in North Carolina who want to be in the workplace,” added Tommy Cox, Director of Vocational Services for SENET. “Supporting the national Campaign for Disability Employment underscores our commitment to this worthy and necessary mission. Together, we can drive positive change by illustrating that, at work, it’s what people can do that matters.”
