From NBC Universal (9.7.10):
2010 Characters Unite Awards - Nomination Period Opens 9/13
Hi everyone,
We wanted to let you know that we are getting set to launch the 2nd Annual Characters Unite Awards to identify and recognize unsung community heroes who are making a significant and lasting difference in the effort to fight prejudice and discrimination. This year we're expanding the initiative, encouraging people all across the country to submit nominations at charactersunite.com and honoring eight individuals, each with a $5,000 grant to further his/her project or related nonprofit organization.
Starting on Monday, September 13th, USA and our cable affiliate partners will be airing a PSA featuring Reshma Shetty, one of the stars of "Royal Pains," calling for nominations. We'll also be sending email blasts and utilizing Facebook and other social media sites.
We would be extremely grateful for your help in getting the word out! We want to make sure that people you may already know who are doing incredible work -- for example, to advocate against hate crimes, tackle bullying, promote diversity, fight for equal rights and opportunities, etc. -- have the chance to be recognized and rewarded.
Please submit your own nominations at charactersunite.com starting on September 13th and please consider posting information about the Characters Unite Awards on your websites, in blast newsletters and/or at any upcoming events. The entry period will close at midnight (ET) on October 8th and we plan to announce the award winners in mid-November.
Additional information -- including the rules, the judging criteria and the entry form -- will be available at charactersunite.com beginning on the 13th. In the meantime, if you have any questions or need any materials, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Thank you so much! As always, we greatly appreciate your participation in Characters Unite and we hope that these awards also will help support your efforts.
