From the National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery (5.10.10):
Celebrating Those Who Make a Difference for Mental Health
Do you know of a consumer who has been a leader in educating the public about mental health? If so, please help the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recognize their accomplishments by nominating them for a 2010 Voice Award.
Each year, the Voice Awards honor consumer leaders who have made outstanding
contributions by:
· Leading efforts to promote the social inclusion of people with mental health problems;
· Personally demonstrating that recovery is real and possible; and
· Making a positive impact on their community, workplace, and/or school.
Their leadership and advocacy efforts have been instrumental in raising awareness and understanding of mental health issues.
All mental health consumer nominations must be received by May 14, 2010.
Nominations are open to anyone, are free, and there is no limit to the number an individual
can submit.
Additional consideration will be given to nominees who have made a positive impact within multicultural populations, such as racially and ethnically diverse groups.
The Voice Awards will be presented at a gala ceremony on October 13, 2010, in Los Angeles. Please consult the Voice Awards Web site for updates.
The Voice Awards are part of the Campaign for Mental Health Recovery, a multi-year public service advertising program of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Ad Council to promote understanding and support for young adults and others with mental illnesses.
