Thank you to everyone who contributed to this tremendous effort.
From Michael Lieberman (March 29, 2009):
Colleagues,
The House of Representatives has just approved H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crime Prevention Act. With the active support of President Obama and Attorney General Holder now, we have our best chance ever to secure enactment of this important legislation.
The vote was 249-175. We will circulate a roll call breakdown as soon as it is available.
Congratulations to all!
The strong, bipartisan vote today is the result of many years of very effective advocacy by our champions in the House and the bill’s broad coalition of supporters.
Onward and upward!
Great victory! The Facebook sharing doesn't work for some reason. Is it okay to copy and paste this onto Facebook giving attribution and the link of course with it? It seems as if a lot of folks don't know that this bill includes people with disabilities outside disability advocates, at least from what I've seen.

Why is hurting people with disabilities, et al, more offensive than hurting ANY other person. Are these people more valuable? Special? I thought we were wanting to be treated equally?

It is really a legislative victory. This law's real success lies in it's practice and enforcement.
